Sourcing Specialist (Furniture Industry)

We are looking for an experienced Sourcing Specialist with a deep understanding of the furniture industry, specifically in upholstery production. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the sourcing of materials, analyzing supplier quotations, and optimizing costs without compromising design quality. This role requires a proactive approach to supplier negotiation, cost management, and forecasting.

• Sourcing Materials & Suppliers: Identify and evaluate suppliers for upholstery and related materials, ensuring quality, cost-effectiveness, and reliability.

• Cost Analysis: Analyze Bills of Materials (BOM) and supplier cost quotations, benchmark costs, and recommend cost-saving initiatives without impacting design integrity.

• Supplier Negotiation: Lead negotiations with suppliers to secure favorable terms, ensuring competitive pricing while maintaining strong supplier relationships.

• Market Trends & Price Monitoring: Keep abreast of material price trends in the market, especially for fabrics, upholstery, and furniture components, to make informed sourcing decisions.

• Cost Optimization: Collaborate with technical team to provide cost reduction strategies, ensuring that any changes are aligned with the company’s quality standards and design intent.

• Stock Control & Forecasting: Manage and control fabric and material stock levels, forecasting demand to ensure optimal inventory levels without overstocking.

• Cost Control & Reporting: Maintain and control costing files, ensuring all material costs are accurately documented and monitored.

• Excel Expertise: Utilize advanced Excel skills to manage complex data sets, perform cost analysis, and generate regular reports for management

• Experience: Minimum 5 years of sourcing experience in the furniture industry, with a focus on upholstery production.

• Technical Skills: Strong understanding of BOM, material cost structure, and cost analysis methodologies.

• Negotiation Skills: Proven experience in negotiating with suppliers to achieve the best cost, quality, and service terms.

• Analytical Ability: Strong ability to analyze cost quotations, benchmark against market standards, and suggest cost-effective alternatives.

• Excel Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for cost control, analysis, and forecasting.

• Market Knowledge: Deep knowledge of material price trends, especially in the upholstery market, and the ability to anticipate future pricing movements.

• Problem-Solving: Ability to provide innovative ideas for cost reduction without affecting product design or quality.

• Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with internal teams and external suppliers.

• Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills to manage fabric stock control and forecasting to meet production demands.

Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or related field (preferred but not required if experience is extensive).

Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with sustainable sourcing practices and trends in eco-friendly upholstery materials is a plus.
