Programme Officer on Climate and Disaster Risk Management
Job description
Duty station: Ha Noi, Vietnam
Duration: ASAP until 31st December 2027
Main responsibilities:
• Acting as technical focal point for climate and disaster risk management;
• Advising the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development/the Vietnam Disaster and Dyke Management Authority and provincial authorities on the development of digital climate and disaster risk information and assessments;
• Ensuring close and effective cooperation and communication with relevant partners and stakeholders at national and provincial level during the implementation of the activities;
• Cooperating and advising in a multidisciplinary team colleague working on climate and disaster risk financing;
• Responsible for providing inputs to PR/communication, knowledge management and M&E;
• Ensuring that the activities are implemented in compliance with GIZ rules and regulations.
Job requirements
• Master’s degree in disaster risk management, environment, natural resources management or closely related fields.
• Having at least 5 years of working experience in disaster risk management, environment, natural resources management, preferably in development cooperation setting.
• Good knowledge and understanding about geo-databases, GIS, Remote Sensing, and digital technologies in disaster risk management.
• Good knowledge and understanding about disaster risk management in different regions of Vietnam.
• Proven-working experience with and having good working relationships with governmental, ministerial, and provincial partners on disaster risk management or related topics.
• Excellent English proficiency, especially in presentation and writing.
• Capability to accompany and supervise multidisciplinary consultant teams.
• Good teamwork and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to travel frequently if required.
