Product Design Engineer

The Opportunity

As part of our ongoing expansion, the opportunity has arisen to join our team in Hanoi Vietnam.

Working as a key part of the in-house Product Design team, this role will be to create products from conception through to production. If you have experience or qualifications in mechanical design, product design, design engineering or similar, these opportunities could be for you.

If you have experience or qualifications in any of these fields or similar please get in contact as this opportunity could be for you. Although industry experience would be advantageous, we will consider the right person without any experience (university graduate etc).

Key Duties

• You will be expected to manage the complete product design lifecycle from brainstorming and concept development to project management and production

• Creating product design specifications

• Designing products using SolidWorks CAD software

• Revising existing products

• Creating product assemblies and configurations

• Creating parts lists / BOM's using SolidWorks

• Creating engineering drawings

• Producing product instruction manuals (training will be given)

• Product testing once sample completed

• Managing product data and general office administration

• Liaising with suppliers, design engineers and management

• May be asked to assist with setting up stands at exhibitions in Vietnam and abroad

Essential Requirements

• Strong 3D CAD design background ideally SolidWorks

• A good understanding of the design process and manufacturing techniques

• Experience with sheet metal, metal fabrications and plastics would be an advantage

• Meticulous attention to detail

• Good team working and communication skills – sketch, written and verbal

• Self-motivated, organised multi-tasker with excellent project management skills that enjoys a varied workload

• Must be able to suggest own ideas and improvements to products

• Competent using PCs and Windows

• Background in engineering and a track record in a directly similar role would be an advantage

• Previous experience with a PDM system will be an advantage but not essential

• Ideally graduated from the university with mechanical major
