PE Teaching Assistant

Job Purpose:

The PE Teaching Assistant supports the PE teachers in the effective delivery the PE Curriculum in accordance with the school’s mission: to provide an outstanding education delivered in Vietnamese and English that emphasizes Vietnamese values, academic and personal excellence and foster global understanding, respect and independent learning. The PE Teaching Assistant facilitates behavior management, monitoring of activities, preparation of resources, and day-to-day classroom set up to the enhance student learning and participation. The PE Teaching Assistant forges positive relationships with students, teachers and parents, and plays a key role in communication about student welfare, progress and daily life.

Duties and responsibilities:

▪ Assist PE teachers during lessons ensuring health and safety, positive behavior and participation of students.

▪ Support the students, either individually or in groups, to access learning activities as directed by the PE teacher or Sports Lead.

▪ Collaborate with, and support, the PE teacher when planning lessons. Provide appropriate support and supervision to individuals or groups of students.

▪ Input data on student’s achievement into PE databases.

▪ Provide feedback to the teacher regarding the performance of students.

▪ Supervise students in communal areas to ensure a high standard of behavior is maintained.

▪ Coach/lead extra-curricular sporting activities; during lunchtimes, before school and after school as appropriate.

▪ Assist in officiating and preparing for home matches/fixtures.

▪ Manage and coordinate PE fixtures, make and take bookings and arrange transportation.

▪ Ensure all teaching areas and equipment are well maintained, and any maintenance requirements are notified.

▪ To maintain and follow Health and Safety guidelines at all times and to notify the PE teacher of Sports Subject Lead of any concerns

▪ Provide duty-cover for absent colleagues when requested to do so by the line manager.

▪ When needed, provide lesson cover for absent colleagues.

▪ Act as a role model for pupils.

▪ Work with fellow colleagues in a spirit of mutual cooperation to maintain and enhance a pleasant professional working environment.

▪ Refer comments, questions and complaints from parents directly to the PE teacher or Sports Subject Lead.

▪ Be available for all PD sessions as specified in the school calendar

▪ Promote the school positively at all times.

▪ Understand and follow all school policies and procedures.

▪ Undertake any other reasonable task as instructed by the Sports Subject Lead and/ or Managing

Qualification & Requirement:

▪ Degree in Physical Education

▪ IELTS score of 6.0

▪ Being creative, energetic and enthusiastic about teaching language.

▪ At least 1 year of experience. Experience of working in an international school is a plus.

▪ First Aid training
