Mobile Game Research Assistant (Contractor)
Job description
We are looking for a Mobile Game Research Assistant to join our team and support our efforts in analyzing and understanding mobile gaming trends. This role involves gathering, organizing, and interpreting data from various mobile games to help inform product strategies and development decisions. This is an entry-level role ideal for someone passionate about mobile games who wants to gain experience in market research and game analysis.
• App Store Research: Regularly monitor and analyze top mobile games across app stores (Google Play, Apple App Store) for trends in gameplay, mechanics, art style, monetization strategies, and user engagement tactics.
• Competitor Analysis: Collect and document screenshots, gameplay videos, and key features from competitor games. Track key performance indicators (e.g., rankings, ratings) and note any significant updates or shifts in player reception.
• Gameplay Analysis: Play test games for short sessions to gather information on mechanics, themes, progression, and design similarities with other games in the market.
• Data Collection and Entry: Input collected data and insights into company databases or tools (e.g., Smartsheet, Excel) with attention to detail and accuracy, ensuring it is readily accessible for analysis by senior team members.
• User Reviews and Sentiment Analysis: Read and summarize user reviews on mobile game stores, identifying common themes, strengths, and areas of frustration among players.
• Cross-functional Collaboration: Work with other teams (e.g., Product, Design, Marketing) to ensure research findings are effectively communicated and integrated into game development and strategy.
Job requirements
KNOWLEDGE:
• High school diploma or equivalent; coursework or a degree in Game Design, Market Research, Psychology, or a related field is a plus.
• Some experience in game testing, research, or data entry preferred, but not required. A strong interest in mobile gaming and market trends is essential.
SKILL & ABILITY:
• Familiarity with mobile game genres, popular titles, and app store ecosystems.
• Strong attention to detail and organization skills.
• Proficiency in using spreadsheets (Excel, Google Sheets) and documentation tools.
• Basic understanding of analytical tools or research methodologies is a plus.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge of basic game mechanics and user experience principles (Nice to have)
