Job description
Reporting to the MES Development Manager, the MES Developer will work closely with the team to design, develop and implment MES solutions according to the needs of the business, while providing level 3 support whenever production is scheduled.
The successful candidate is required to have working knowledge of IT (Information Technology) and OT (Operational Technology) convergence with experience in developing applications in a fast paced environment.
The focus of this role will be 80% development and 20% solutions architecture. It is a highly technicaly and hands-on position that will require the successful candidate to adapt in an automotive manufacturing environment.
Development:
- Utilize SIEMENS framework to develop functions within SIEMENS OpCenter Discrete Manufacturing MOM platform
- Develop functions or enhance current features that drive the business and support users
User Support:
- Provide Level 3 Support for MES
- Minimize business disruption by resolving any incidents
Design
- Design the system based on operational processes and the needs of the business
- Create functional designs that meet requirements
Enhancements / Automation:
- Research and implement improvements to optimize system performance and when there are changes in processes and requirements from product development
- Enhance the current process to Optimize system utilization
- Work closely with the MES maintenance, the MES operations team and business user for release schedules
Training / Documentation
- Perform System testing for Release Note
- Create, maintain technical documentation on how to use new developments and enhancements. -- -Training will also need to be provided to MES Operations Team
- Provide technical documentation for Operation team and perform Test cases
System Implementation:
- Create solutions during design phase of a manufacturing assembly line and support the business by identifying gaps between operational processes and system functionality
- Installation of new applications/ system hardware requirement for new Plant/products.
- Manage system license.
Business Intelligence (BI)
- Collaborate with the business by transforming reports into meaningful data-driven stories that effectively produce output for the business
- Create visualizations through business intelligence
Integration and Connectivity
- Integrate with other technologies such as PLM and SAP, PLC, etc. by using APIs, OPC-UA, OPC-DA, and other protocols
- Work with other teams to integrate and streamline processes
Job requirements
1) Education:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology field
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
2) Skills and Experience:
• 3 - 5 years experience in Information Technology
• Drive to lead MES projects and design architecture
• Provide level 3 MES support
• Experience working with customers as part of the software development process
• Ability to program in one or more programming languages (C#, HTML/CSS, JavaScript, etc.)
• Experience with long form datatypes (e.g. XML, JSON)
• Experience with Microsoft SQL Server or other database technologies
• Knowledge of TFS/Azure DevOps
• Proven experience implementing solutions using any major SCADA/MES vendor (Apriso, Rockwell, SIEMENS OpCenter Discrete, AVEVA, etc.)
3) Other requirements (if needed):
• Proficient in English (written and verbal)
• Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills;
• Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
• Ability to facilitate meetings and follow up with action items
• Exposure to manufacturing and automation process
• Working knowledge of software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and support methodologies
• Experience integrating with other business systems (e.g. ERP, PLM)
• Knowledge of Operational Technology (PLC/SCADA)
