Job Summary
The Professional Development Specialist is responsible for designing, developing, and delivering comprehensive technical training programmes across departments, including Production, Quality, Engineering, and Warehouse.
The successful candidate will conduct a learning needs assessment to identify and design the technical skills and knowledge of Factory Workers at Vilbue. This will be in the form of structured programmes and external collaborations and will include the establishment of robust training curriculum, execution including training evaluation working closely with departmental training champions and external training providers.
Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Area of Responsibility
Training Development & Delivery
• Conduct comprehensive Training Needs Analysis (TNA) with departmental managers to identify skill gaps and prioritise training needs. This will include both technical and non-technical skills set.
• Develop and implement technical training programmes that focus on knowledge and skill enhancement, tailored to meet each department's specific needs.
• Design learning/training content that is aligned with Lean Manufacturing, Six-Sigma- TPM (total productive maintenance) requirements.
• Establish and maintain a structured training approach, including curriculum and instructional design, procedure manuals, guides and course materials to support technical competency development. This includes digital instructional information consistent with adult learning theory for delivery in online learning, hybrid courses, and face-to-face courses in various forms and formats including group discussion, lecture, simulations, and videos.
• Orchestrate with the support of external training vendors (where appropriate) learning materials in a variety of formats, including print, graphics, audio, video, animation, and multimedia.
Collaboration & Coordination
• Work closely with departmental training champions to ensure functional training initiatives align with both departmental and organisational objectives.
• Coordinate with external training providers for specialised technical sessions, ensuring alignment with Motul's standards and department-specific requirements.
Programme Evaluation & Improvement
• Assess the effectiveness of training programmes through feedback, assessments, and performance metrics.
• Regularly update and improve training content and delivery methods to meet evolving technical needs and industry best practices.
• Maintains records of training and development activities, attendance, results of tests and assessments, and retraining requirements.
Documentation, Reporting & Analysis
• Prepares and implements training budget; maintains records including attendance, assessment results, and progress tracking and reports of expenses.
• Prepare regular reports that summarise training outcomes, participation rates, and areas of improvement, providing insights and actionable recommendations for management.
Job requirements
Relevant Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with experience in Training and Development or Instructional Design.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in course design, curriculum design, training, or online learning.
Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six-Sigma- TPM (total productive maintenance)
• Experience in collaborating with external training providers for skill-specific training sessions is preferred.
• In-depth understanding of adult learning theories and instructional design frameworks, such as ADDIE and Kirkpatrick's Four Levels, to ensure effective learning outcomes that match programme objectives.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and related program software.
• Excellent ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, adapting communication styles as needed to engage different audiences.
• Strong organisational skills, capable of managing multiple projects, prioritising tasks, and adapting to evolving business needs.
• Commitment to staying updated on industry trends, instructional design best practices, and emerging training technologies.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
