Job description
Job Summary:
The estimating engineer plays a critical role in the proposal phase of the EPC, involving sourcing new subcontractors, conducting thorough investigations of infrastructure costs, and possessing a deep understanding of subcontracting processes and Invitation to Bid documents. The engineer is responsible for crafting accurate construction cost estimates, which are then reviewed for quality assurance. Additionally, they are responsible for estimating the construction costs of project, developing competitive proposals, and collaborating with the project team to ensure the project stays within the estimated budget. This involves working and negotiating with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain pricing information.
Key Responsibilities & Roles:
1) Review Tendering ITB Requirements such as drawings, specifications, and project scope to identify the construction materials, equipment, and labor required to carry out the project
2) Perform a cost verification and evaluation of the bidder's proposed price such as materials, equipment, labor, and other factors to determine the proposal construction cost for the tendering.
3) Develop construction proposals that include the detailed cost estimates, project schedule, and any other relevant project information to make the proposal competitive.
4) Work with the estimation team to ensure that the proposal construction cost is capable of delivering the project within scope, schedule, and budget.
5) Review technical proposal to ensure that the execution plan and details are accurately reflected in accordance with ITB requirements.
6) Maintain documentation of all estimates, construction proposals, and project contracts.
7) Continuously review and improve construction estimating processes to increase accuracy and efficiency of project cost estimates.
8) Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement in estimation methodologies, to increase accuracy and efficiency.
9) Standards Compliance: Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and company policies in all estimating activities.
Job requirements
1) Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
2) Proven experience in construction estimating within the EPC industry.
3) Familiarity with subcontracting processes, ITB documents, and project execution.
4) Strong analytical skills for comprehensive cost investigations.
5) Detail oriented with a focus on accuracy in estimating construction costs.
6) Effective communication skills to work with subcontractors and internal teams.
7) Proficiency in relevant software and tools for estimating and project management.
