Duties and Responsibilities:

• The Vietnamese Language Teacher is responsible for teaching Vietnamese as a foreign language

to students from Grade 1 to Grade 5 and Vietnamese as a home language to native Vietnamese

speakers. In the Early Years and Kindergarten, lead learning about Vietnamese culture through

Host Country Studies lessons.

• Develop and implement a comprehensive Vietnamese curriculum for students aligning with the IB

Primary Years Programme (PYP) and UNIS Hanoi's educational philosophy.

• Create engaging and relevant lesson plans that promote language acquisition, critical thinking,

and cultural understanding.

• Provide a differentiated programme of instruction that provides appropriate challenges in

alignment with our commitment to Multi Tiered Systems of Support.

• Assess and report student progress.

• Share in the overall responsibility for the academic progress, personal development, health and

safety, discipline and well-being of all students.

• Participate in and organise meetings to support the school’s language curriculum.

• Work in a collaborative team to create engaging and meaningful learning experiences.

• Coordinate and organise celebrations to celebrate the Moon Festival and Tet as part of our

commitment to the integration of Vietnamese cultural practices and learning into the Elementary

curriculum.

• Any other reasonable duties, as directed by the Principal.

Position Requirements:

• Experience teaching Vietnamese language to elementary school aged children

• Appropriate teaching credentials

• Knowledge of the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program

• Demonstrate intercultural competence when working in a diverse community

• Ability to differentiate and accommodate a range of ability levels and learner differences

• Ability to work as part of a team

• Preparedness to work within different grade levels within the Elementary School

• Excellent organisational and time management skills

• Experience with data informed conversations to guide teaching and learning

• Strong technology integration
