SCHOOL OF SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY
The School of Science & Technology at RMIT Vietnam is associated with the STEM College of RMIT University Melbourne, delivering the College’s award programs and developing research in the field(s) of science, engineering and health. Programs currently taught on the Vietnam campus include the Bachelor of Information Technology, Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical and Electronics), Bachelor of Engineering (Software Engineering), Bachelor of Engineering (Robotics & Mechatronics) and the Doctor of Philosophy (Engineering) (Electrical and Electronic Engineering).
YOUR ROLE
The Associate Professor will provide leadership and foster excellence in teaching, research, and industry engagement efforts of the School, within the University, and with the community, professional, commercial, and industrial sectors. More specifically, the Associate Professor is responsible for providing original, innovative, and distinguished contributions to the School’s programs, particularly in the disciplines of information technology and software engineering, and for maintaining and advancing their scholarly, research, and/or professional capabilities relevant to those disciplines at a national and international level. The Associate Professor can be expected to provide strategic leadership in learning and teaching or research and scholarship, teach, and make a significant contribution to teaching and learning in the disciplines to improve student learning outcomes. The Associate Professor will significantly contribute to the School's planning and strategic direction, by taking on academic leadership roles involving participation in various committees within the School, Department, and University and external to the University, as appropriate. This position will provide leadership and support for partnerships and engagement activities ensuring they are appropriately and successfully coordinated, implemented, and continuously improved. These activities will involve industry partners, Government agencies, and University stakeholders.
KEY ACCOUNTIBILITIES
- Undertake independent teaching at undergraduate, honours, postgraduate level, and corporate training including designing, conducting and moderating assessment, implementing improvements informed by course evaluation activities and student feedback.
- Lead advancement of teaching in the disciplines including the development of new programs, initiating program improvements, improving academic standards, and leading assessment design, conduct and moderation.
- Conduct impactful research and drive contributions to the disciplines at national and international level. This includes the development of successful research teams, leading publication effort of the research teams, identifying and attracting external research funding for sustained research growth, and supervising higher degree by research candidates.
- Contribute significantly to both internal and external University governance and collegial life.
- Adhere to the requirements of the Academic Expectations and Development Framework of RMIT Vietnam.

Job requirements
English proficiency requirement
English is the language of teaching and communication at RMIT Vietnam. For this role, the minimum requirement is IELTS (Academic) with a score of at least 7.0 with no competency less than 6.5 (or equivalent, as outlined in the Recruitment, Selection and Onboarding Guidelines).
For Higher Education roles, English Language Proficiency may also be proven by having completed PhD studies while being instructed through the medium of English, and proof of teaching in an English-speaking environment during the previous 24 months.
Work permit
All foreign employees must adhere to the requirements for obtaining a valid visa and work permit in Vietnam. These requirements are mandated by the Government and may be over and above the mandatory requirements and key selection criteria. Work permit requirements are subject to change.
