Associate General Merchandise Manager
Job description
• Familiarize with the market attributes and understand client’s preferences, off-price business models, needs and expectations.
• Execute strategic sourcing initiatives required by client to build resources to support and to grow the business.
• Responsible for monthly forecasting.
• Plan near/mid/long term business strategies for client base in order to meet Company goals.
• Lead direct reports to meet changing business demands to client expectation.
• Responsible for their team’s annual performance reviews.
• Develop and implement new and innovative action plans to achieve new business objectives.
• Ensure fluidity within the merchandising, quality assurance and technical support process, from product development to product delivery.
• Responsible for meeting client’s ESG/social compliance requirements.
• Target zero claims.
• Identify root cause to any issues and articulate solution-oriented comments.
• Strengthen and elevate the merchandising department to ensure a high standard of service to clients, professionalism within the team and coaching to elevate skill set.
• Implement and maintain operational policies/procedures for handling the company’s business.
• Direct market research efforts and new product developments to enhance service to clients and to drive business.
Job requirements
• University Degree or higher.
• Over 10 years of furniture (or hardline, apparel) industry experience, with 6 years at management level.
• Strong knowledge in off-price model furniture (or hardline, apparel) product manufacturing processes and proven skills in market and vendor management.
• Ability to source new factories and build a strong vendor base effectively through on-boarding.
• Knowledge in USA market is required with a previous work history in a trading or off-pricing company as desirable.
• Strong management and leadership skills, possess strategic and analytical thinking and high level of initiative and integrity.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skill to interact with all levels, both external and internal. Results driven and solution based mind-set is required.
• Fluency in spoken & written English is prerequisite; Vietnamese & Mandarin is an advantage.
• Willing to travel within Vietnam
